Phoenixville Homes, Downtown Or Just Outside It

An Old Iron Town With A Lively Downtown

Phoenixville sits where French Creek meets the Schuylkill River. For nearly two centuries it grew around the Phoenix Iron Works, which closed in 1987. Since then, the downtown has come back with restaurants, shops, breweries, and new apartments.
Today the town offers two quite different ways to live. In the borough you get older homes and condos within walking distance of Bridge Street. In the surrounding townships you’ll find more single-family homes, bigger lots, and quieter streets, still a short drive from town.
  • Historic homes, lofts, townhomes, and single-family homes
  • The Colonial Theatre, restaurants, and shops on Bridge Street
  • Close to Valley Forge National Historical Park

John made both the selling of our home and purchasing our new home so much easier. He was always available to answer our questions and uncertainties with the process. It had been over 39 years since we last sold and purchased a home. Whenever we felt stressed John was always responsive and reassuring. We couldn't ask for a better individual to help find our new home and sell our existing home. We give John the highest of recommendations.

I recommend John Cornely as a selling realtor with no reservation. After living in the same home for 47 years, selling was a daunting prospect. John made the process easier than I had anticipated. He went through all the paperwork to be sure it was clear, guided us through preparing our home for sale, and, overall, worked very hard throughout the selling process. He suggested a service to help us downsize, and had a great photographer take beautiful listing photos. We accepted a good offer by the end of the day after the first open house and settled 5 weeks after acceptance. It was a wonderful experience and if I had to do it again, I wouldn't hesitate to work with him.

John spent 3-4 months traveling from Skippack/Collegeville to the Lehigh Valley almost every weekend with us to look for a house. He listened to what we liked/didn’t like and never pushed us to like a house when we had complaints. He clearly wanted us to find the perfect house for us. We saw a LOT of duds and never felt rushed to make a decision. House shopping these days is like finding a diamond in the rough and John has a ton of patience. Communication via text was great and all closings went smoothly. It was a pleasure to work with him and we would recommend him 1000 times over!!

John was recommended to us by family and we could not be more happy or grateful that we chose him as our realtor as first-time homebuyers! He went above and beyond to make the entire process as smooth as possible by answering all of our questions and keeping us well-informed at every step. John always had our best interests in mind and worked tirelessly to ensure we got a house we love. In a very competitive sellers' market, his ability to close a deal was the difference maker in us getting the house! John has a true client-first approach and we would recommend him to anyone in need of a realtor. Thank you, John!

Wow where do I start! 5 stars is not enough. John helped us to find a new home first then sell our old home. When looking for our new home, he was was always patient and explained every step of the process and he has the best calming effect. When nerves were high, he always had the right encouragement and guidance. When we found our home, man, he knows how to close a deal! He was spot on advising us how to bid for it and because of that we are in the home that is just right for us! When it came time to sell, he was there through everything too! His sales aides and promotion of our home were top shelf! He even went door to door in our neighborhood to distribute fliers to make sure we had the most exposure! We sold our home in 10 days during one of the slowest time of the year to sell!! From the time we started looking, to the time we settled on the sale of our old house it was only 9 months!!! There is really no one else you should have representing you. I call it the "John Factor" he knows what to do and how to do it when buying or selling a house. All while making sure your needs are met. We couldn't have done it without him!

John was so great in the sell of our home/buy of our new home! He was very knowledgeable about Skippack and the surrounding areas. John made sure we were comfortable with the entire process. Even after all settlements, John has gone above and beyond in making sure everything has been handled. Thanks, John!

Questions About Phoenixville

Should I buy downtown or in the surrounding areas?
It depends on how you want to live. Downtown offers walkability and historic character, usually with smaller lots and on-street parking. The surrounding townships tend to offer more space, driveways, and quieter streets, but you’ll usually drive into town.
Exterior changes to properties in the Phoenixville Downtown Historic District are reviewed by the borough’s Historical Architectural Review Board. Check with the borough’s Codes Department before planning exterior work.
Some properties near French Creek and the Schuylkill River may be in a flood zone. Check the flood zone status and insurance needs for any specific home before you buy.
The Phoenixville Area School District serves the borough plus Schuylkill and East Pikeland Townships. Some nearby addresses fall in other districts, so confirm for any specific home.
